As the recent trailer and demo showed, there is an extensive support system in Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Placing an ally next to another in battle often offers stat bonuses,
and sometimes they will even attack with you or block enemy attacks for
you. The higher the affinity between the two, the more bonuses and the
higher the chance of the extra actions occurring.

What
they don’t demonstrate is the full extent of the support system and how
much fun it is to read through all the involved dialogue.

Affinity
can be raised by viewing support conversations, which are viewed from
the world map menu. While I’ve only played one other Fire Emblem game in the past, I don’t recall the conversations being as funny as they are in Awakening.
Frankly, all of the support dialogue is hilarious. What’s more, you can
view which characters are compatible with others in the menu, so you
can plan out which conversations you want to try to get.

Also,
from the world map main menu, you can access the Barracks. When you do
so, you see a view of an empty room with a table, but if you choose to
“Listen In” (because you or your Tactician is apparently an avid
eavesdropper), you can hear random snippets of monologue from one
character or from two talking to each other. After listening to each of
these, you’ll get bonus EXP, temporary stat increases in the next
battle, items, and (when there are two characters present) increased
affinity.

As an aside, from the Extras menu there’s also
an option called Hubba Tester, which you can use to view humorous
pairing statuses for any two characters you’ve recruited.

Responses
range from “Friend zoned” to “Loves to go shopping” to “Lost in
pheromones”. Old Hubba, the man doing the fortune-telling, also comments
on each pair. For example, if you look at the relationship between
Chrom and his sister, Lissa, and get something romantically suggestive,
Old Hubba says, “Oh, the questions this raises…”

(None of what he says is serious, so don’t go thinking scandalous things!)

In addition to these humorous pairings, Fire Emblem: Awakening also has a marriage system, which we’ll discuss in a future report.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Introduces Kellam, Sumia And Lon’qu

Three more character profiles for Fire Emblem: Awakening have been shared by Nintendo. These are for Kellam, Sumia, and Lon’qu. Check them out below.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Fe_kellam_thumb
Kellam is our Fire Emblem Awakening character spotlight for today. He is a Shepherd whose infamous lack of presence makes him seem invisible to others.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Fe_sumia_thumb
Sumia from Fire Emblem Awakening is a klutzy Shepherd with a lack of self-worth. She has a talent for working with animals.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Fe_lonqu_thumb
Lon’qu from Fire Emblem Awakening is a swordsman raised in Regna Ferox. He’s usually cool and curt with most people.

Fire Emblem: Awakening hit North America on Feb. 4th and Europe in April.

Fire Emblem: Awakening (ファイアーエムブレム覚醒, Fire Emblem: Kakusei) is the newest Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo 3DS, announced at Nintendo's 2011 3DS Conference ahead of the 2011 Tokyo Game Show. The story focuses on the prince of the Kingdom of Ylisse and his companions as they struggle during a turbulent era. Players are able to combine the might of nearby allies using Pair Up and enter dual battles using the Dual System to defeat enemies. Gameplay footage shows that the traversable world map, last seen in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and special skills like Astra from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn will make a return. This game will feature a playable character that can be customized, a feature last seen in Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyū~. Just like in the previous game, the player can choose between Classic Mode and Casual Mode.

The Japanese release was on April 19, 2012; at the time, a European release had been announced, though no date had been set, except for it being released between Q2 2013.

On June 6, 2012, directly after the Nintendo 3DS software showcase at E3 2012, president Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo of America revealed that the game would be coming to Nintendo of America under in the title called Fire Emblem: Awakening and this was later confirmed through the Nintendo of America's official Twitter account.

On June 22, 2012, during the Nintendo Direct showcase, it was revealed that the game was set for a 2013 release for Nintendo of America. A NA trailer for the game was released on October 25, 2012. And in the Nintendo Direct trailer from December 5, 2012, it was confirmed that Fire Emblem: Awakening would be released in North America on February 4, 2013 and in Europe & Australia at some time in April 2013.

GameStop is currently offering an artbook as a pre-order bonus; this offer is only available in the United States and Canada . The game's Nintendo e-Shop listing was added on January 5, 2013, and it will be available for digital download in the United States and Europe the same day the game is available at retail. (The game is not currently available on the Japanese eShop, but it will be made available there by the end of January.)

The Demo version of the game was made available on the North American eShop on January 17, 2013. It only allows play in Casual Mode, as opposed to Classic Mode, allows for Normal, Hard, and Lunatic difficulties to be selected, and features two chapters from the beginning of the game (Prologue and Chapter 1, skipping the initial Interlude). The demo does not feature Avatar customization in a substantial way; you may only change name, birthdate and emphasized stats, while using the default male Avatar.
